We're back from our gigs in Europe and fully
immersed in recording the new material! We've been hard at work in the studio
super excited about what happened when we went to France and Spain! THANKS to
all the great people that we met along the way and believe it when we say we
can't wait to get back ASAP!

We have some great photos from the show at the
ELYSEE MONTMARTE. (Thanks Emmy!)
Also, there's an EXCELLENT review of this gig in the brand new issue of
CROSSROADS. It was a gas seeing all the familiar faces that we met in June!
Thanks for coming out to the show!

And what can we say about the AZKENA
Festival!!! It was a humbling experience hanging out with everyone in beautiful
Vitoria. We hope to see you more and more!
Hello and thanks to all of our new friends that we got to meet and share some
music and a drink. Thanks to Eneko for having us and to Bertrand for getting us
there! Over the course of the three day festival, we got to meet old friends,
hear some great bands and play some rock 'n roll!!

The critics have spoken! Check out some of the reviews
of the festival:
MOTHER SUPERIOR
The most solid power trio from Los Angeles...
"Almost without time for us to reach the stage, the power trio from Los
Angeles attacked us with the song which gives name to the record of the year,
"13 Violets". Huge charisma, impeccable musicians and with an
excellent ability to cope with a show. They didn't need so much to get the
audience eating out of their hands. If we bear in mind that they were looking
forward to playing in our country, you could imagine what happened on stage.
Apart from some new songs (which sounded wonderfully), they based their
performance on the songs from the mentioned album and also from the explosive
"Sin". This is the big thing about of this band; like
Drive-By-Truckers, they do not take 4 years to record a masterly album. Mother
Superior is a band with an enormous talent, that knows how to absorb their
influences and catalyse them giving them own identity. This is what someone can
appreciate in their studio recordings, and that it can be noticed live listening
to "Jaded Little Princess", "Pretty In The Morning" or
"Fuel The Fire". Songs which expand their greatness live with the
furious solos from a plethoric Jim Wilson, meanwhile Marcus and Matt cover his
back without any trouble. Taking into account that this was their only date in
this country, it was obligatory to come here to contemplate a classic of our
time. Because that is what Mother Superior is. Maybe they will never get to sell
millions of records, but this band is very, very big and time will end up
placing them at the level of Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad and Humble Pie. We
hope that they make a tour soon in our country. The first show in our lands of
such a fantastic and dear band like Mother Superior".
POPULAR 1 Magazine
"...don't miss the chance to see them,
amazing..."
DESCONCIERTO: DISCOS & CONCIERTOS
"All the bad thoughts I had disappeared
just when Mother Superior took the stage, one of the bands which swept to
victory with their very, very high live performance."
Space Rock Heaters
"And finally one of the bands which
were really expected in the festival, Mother Superior, the old Henry Rollins's
band. Here is where the festival really began and it began really powerfully.
The Californian trio show us a succulent setlist where shone songs from their
last two records. A band which moves happily from Hard Rock to the more
aggressive Blues, with some albums which are pure dynamite. Highlighted songs
were "13 Violets", "Pretty In The Morning" and "Fuel
the Fire" where the crowd forgot completely that it was siesta-time and
woke up the animal they had inside as if it was a discharge of adrenaline, and
they were dragged by the frenetic and overwhelming rhythm of this band."

Hello everyone!
Just got back from the road with our friend, Daniel
Lanois! What a great experience! Before we get to that, Mother
Superior is playing at 14
Below this Saturday August 7th at 8:30 pm! Also on the bill is
Banyon featuring Stephen
Perkins of Jane's Addiction and Mike Watt! We promise to kick some
ass!! 14 Below is located at 1348 14th Street in Santa Monica, CA!
See you there!
Anyway, we started the Daniel Lanois tour in Pioneertown, CA (a place just
outside of Joshua Tree). Eric Burdon from the legendary band, the Animals,
joined us onstage and sang "House Of The Rising Sun" with us.
Check out the review of the show here: ERICBURDON.COM | News
It was magic! From there, we traveled across the States with the tour
culminating with three shows with the Dave Matthews band in Florida. Dave
and company couldn't be nicer! Dave introduced us every night and sang
"The Maker, " one of Daniel's songs with us. The audience loved
it! Thanks to Jennifer, Adam and Brian for making this a tour to remember!
As a souvenir of the tour, a specially pressed cd of Daniel's music was made and
sold at the venues and his website. The cd is called "Rockets,"
a collection of live and alternate versions of Daniel's songs and features a
great version of "The Maker" with yours truly, Mother Superior!
More reviews and stuff to come! Looking forward to seeing you at 14 Below
on the 7th!

MOTHER SUPERIOR in PARIS!!
Elo kiddies, it's Jim here. We're just back from a triumphant show in
Paris at L'Olympia
where we rocked 'em with a Mother Superior set they'll never forget! Lots
of thanks to Christophe from Crossroads Magazine (our "13 Violets" CD is
currently #2 on the rock chart just behind Aerosmith's "Honkin' On Bobo"!!) and
also Michel from our label Fargo
Records who showed us great hospitality. Hello to all the new fans and
listeners and thank you all so much for the support!
While in Paris we got some great new photos (thanks to Emmy) which we'll be
sharing with you shortly, as well as some live shots from the concert. I
also did an interview for a major French music magazine called "Rock & Folk"
that will soon be published. There was a great "meet and greet" at the
Hard Rock Cafe© where we got to hang out with fans and sign autographs.
That night at the concert, we met and played with lots of great artists (hello
to Ross The Boss, Jason Ringenberg, Carmine Appice who said we have lots of
soul, Gary Louris, Kevin Salem, Eric Ambel and Neal Casal). Marcus had the
great opportunity to get to play bass with the legendary Arthur Brown and Phil
May from the Pretty Things! Hello to Mark St. John, who still can't get
over the fact that I really do like the Bay City Rollers.
A few last thanks go to Guillaume and Melanie and also to Hugues. And how
can we forget our new friend Ron Donovan!! Ron, we are looking forward to
doing lots of work with you in the future.
Our set was fast and furious and loud (duh!) and we hope to have a recording of
the show available to everyone soon. More Mother Superior shows in Europe
are coming up at the end of August/beginning of September. A shout-out
goes to Jean-Luc for believing in us and also for taking us to the Eiffel Tower
and cool vinyl stores.

JIM onstage with SPARKS IN LONDON
Just before the show in Paris, I had the great fortune to play with SPARKS
at the Meltdown
Festival in London. It was a rare occasion for Sparks to look back and
perform their 1974 classic "Kimono My House" in its entirety and I got to rock
the blistering power chords and solos! Thanks to Ron and Russell Mael, my
all-time heroes and now also my dear friends, for my chance to have a dream come
true. The next time you're at the CD store looking for some new sounds,
pick up "Kimono My House" and also the latest Sparks CD, "Lil' Beethoven" and
get ready to have your mind blown. Thanks also to Sparks drummer Tammy
Glover (who has now eliminated the words Dinky Diamond from the English
language), Dean Menta (formerly of Faith No More who has been playing guitar
with Sparks for the past couple of years and who graciously let me share the
guitar duties with him) and my new friend Steve McDonald from Redd
Kross who played the bass guitar flawlessly and made us all laugh. It
was a great pleasure to work with Sparks and I hope that it will not be the last
time.
Also, I got the chance to interview Ron and Russell for an upcoming issue of
Crossroads Magazine in France and we will hopefully get that on the website
after it is published. Thanks again to Christophe for the idea and for
making it all happen.
Four more pics: Jim
with the brothers Mael, Ron
and Jim, Ron
and Jim, Sparks
take a bow. Also check out the new pictures

More details soon.
Additionally, Mother Superior have recorded a cool instrumental CD that we're

MOTHER SUPERIOR and PEARL ADAY collaboration coming soon!
We told you before about our upcoming project with Pearl Aday (daughter of Meat
Loaf and Motley Crue backup vocalist). The collaboration is now going to
be called "MOTHER PEARL" and the CD title is "Broken Thorny Crown."
Together we have written and recorded 11 tracks with Pearl and they are now
being mixed by Bruce Robb at Cherokee Studios here in L.A. Scott from
Anthrax has been helping produce the tracks and believe me, Pearl sings her ass
off on these songs. The three of us crank it up on the backing tracks as
per usual. Highlights include "Worth Defending," "Not Right Now," and a
blistering new version of the Mother Superior classic, "Whore." No release
date yet but check out Pearl's new website for updates, song clips and photos:

MOTHER SUPERIOR TO PERFORM IN PARIS JUNE 18TH!
After having received GREAT press reviews upon its European release in March,
our latest CD, "13 VIOLETS" is currently on the best-selling chart in
France (#8 on this month's top 50!!!). MOTHER SUPERIOR will be in Paris
in June and will be featured in a special night of performances at the OLYMPIA
on June 18 presented by CROSSROADS Magazine. The latest issue of
CROSSROADS features a 4 page article and interview and exclusive photos.
Also, there is a 7 page interview with photos in the great Spain music magazine,
POPULAR 1, which has been instrumental in Mother Superior's soaring popularity
in Spain. In the POPULAR 1 article, Jim & Marcus take Popular 1's
Cesar Martin on a tour of Hollywood including a trip to the Mothership to check
out the band's rare vinyl collection!
We're just getting started in Europe. Late summer festivals and tour dates
to be announced.
THIS JUST IN...Jimmy Page and David Gilmour added to the bill of Crossroads
night #1!

MOTHER SUPERIOR IN THE STUDIO
We've been busy starting the next CD by recording new tracks at Chris McClure's
place and it sounds awesome. Tracks are being mixed at producer Brad
Wood's studio. More on that as it happens. Also, we had the pleasure
of doing more work with our friend ROBERT BRADLEY. We backed Robert on a
cover of a Van Morrison song "Don't Look Back" that will be used as
the opening song for a Robin Williams movie that's directed by David Duchovny
called "House Of D" which has already shown rave reviews at the
Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Also, we've been writing and recording tracks for an upcoming CD by our friend
Pearl Aday (daughter of Meat Loaf, also former Motley Crue background vocalist).
We've done 11 tracks so far produced by Scott Ian from Anthrax and Bruce Robb
from Cherokee Studios. They are SMOKIN'!! We co-wrote nine new songs
with Pearl (she does the lyrics) and there will also be a Randy Newman cover
("Guilty" which Pearl used to bring down the house with at Meat Loaf
shows the past couple of years). Also, Pearl is doing a cover of our own
"Whore" from the Triple X CD! Never thought we'd hear a girl
sing this one! But it sounds really great and hopefully you'll all get to
hear it soon.
JIM performs with SPARKS in LONDON
En route to Paris for the Olympia show with MS, Jim will make a stop in London
to play guitar on stage with one of his all-time favorite bands, SPARKS, at the
Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday, June 12. This show is part of
the MELTDOWN Festival which is presented by Morrissey who asked Sparks to
perform their 1974 masterpiece "KIMONO MY HOUSE". We met Sparks
(brothers Ron & Russell Mael) through producer Tony Visconti (he did the
strings on Mother Superior's "Four Walls") and Jim got the chance to
let the band know how much he loved their music and they kept in touch. To
reproduce the guitar-heavy sounds on their "Kimono" album, they are
bringing Jim for additional guitar and Redd Kross bassist Steve McDonald in for
the special one-time only show. Go to www.allsparks.com
for more info.

MOTHER SUPERIOR MUSIC IN TRIBUTE FILM
Now showing exclusively on Showtime, the movie "Tribute" delves into the
sometimes strange, but passionate, subculture of tribute bands for such musical
phenoms as KISS, Judas Priest, The Monkees and QUEEN.
It's a must-see film. Sometimes hilarious and sometimes sad, the film
presents a hilarious, but also insightful and touching view of a genuinely ambitious
group of people who go to extraordinary lengths to live out their rock dreams
and re-create the performances of their superstar idols. The documentary
explores the issues these bands face including band member turn-over, obsessive
fans, dead-end day jobs and bandmates who take the impersonations too far.
MOTHER SUPERIOR (with longtime cohort Brian Kehew) have supplied the film
with incidental backgroud music and riffs. We are proud to be involved with this
film and we're sure it will be a classic for years to come. Watch for our
credit at the end and if you want to hear some of the music we did you can go to
Check out: http://www.tributethemovie.com/index.html for some snippets.

We have a couple of reviews for you!
First, check out this link
http://hometown.aol.com/raysrealm/myhomepage/
Then from the spanish magazine, Popular 1, we have a translation for you to check out:
Popular 1 translation review of 13 Violets:
They have not risen to stardom yet and if we bear in mind the current situation of the music scene is impossible to know if a line-up like Mother Superior will end up achieving some day the success they deserve, but the only thing which is clear is that here we have one of the best bands of the world. They are not new comers, they have been rocking for many, many years and they have in their credit a quite solid discography and every time Henry Rollins needs their services, they become the best Rollins Band that you can think of (I am not exaggerating if I say that this band has more talent than the Rollins Band of the days of The End Of Silence).
Mother Superior already surprised us in the past with albums like Deep or Mother Superior, but it s evident that their work of 2003, Sin , was a point of inflexion in their career. They have never recorded an album as complete as this one, and its really incredible that just one year later they have got to release this majestic 13 Violets , which undoubtedly is as good as Sin .
If you read the interview with Jim Wilson of this months issue, you can have an idea of what kind of band Mother Superior is although you have never listened to their music.
Their influences are impeccable: Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Funkadelic, Humble Pie, Queen, Free, Johnny Cash, The Who, Muddy Waters\'85 And musically they remind to the 70s power trios which combine equally the power of Rock with the sensibility of Soul music. Mother Superior are indebted to Grand Funk Railroad as well as Funkadelic but at the same time they have their own identity and they dont spend their time copying the things their masters did. An American critic said they are Led Zeppelin with a full erection, and hardly he could have described them in such an appropriate way.
13 Violets is an exuberant work. Very fine compositions as well as the extraordinary production of Wayne Kramer, for whom they were his accompaniment band last year. Kramer have made sure to capture perfectly the power and the immediacy of the group as well as adding some really interesting shades. You just have to listen to the initial theme,nHead Hanging Low , with that beautiful work of Jim Wilson with the guitar and the support of Wayne Kramer with the keyboards, to realize that this is the kind of album which is going to make people talk about during the following months. 13 Violets is the most assorted and surprising album that they have ever recorded so far. The beautiful composition Four Walls, in which the legendary producer Tony Visconti has added a string section, contrasts with songs of hard and powerful Rock n Roll in the style of Mother Superior such as Turbulence, Fuel the Fire, that, at the same time, dont have anything to do with the 70s Soul of I Desire You and Everything Is Alright , two songs which have horns.
This band loves music with such an enormous passion that it is impossible for them to be identified with just one style, and that is something always welcome. In this times of musical drought in which we live, when every time is more difficult to find young groups with talent, a band like Mother Superior is more necessary than ever. Don't doubt it and bring home this fantastic 13 Violets .

Oh yeah! Our filmmaking friends James Beaton & Matt Jones followed us around with cameras while we were recording and mixing “13 VIOLETS” and they produced an awesome mini-documentary capturing all the madness. Soooo, if you would like a copy, all you gotta do is order the CD from Top Beat directly (online or by mail) and we’ll send you the VHS video ABSOLUTELY FREE. It’s a limited offer and these videos will NOT be sold in stores. RARE! You will receive the U.S. version CD and NTSC video (sorry no PAL videos) around the release date of January 20. Click here to order NOW!!

P.S. I almost forgot to tell you about the new ROBERT BRADLEY AND BLACKWATER SURPRISE CD that has just been released called “Still Lovin’ You” on Vanguard Records. If you’re not familiar with Robert’s music, he’s a great soul singer from Detroit and he asked Mother Superior to record some tracks with him for his new CD. We ended up doing half the album (5 out of 10 songs)!! We’re proud of the music we’ve made with Robert so go here for more info on his new CD.

We`ve just finished the Rise Above tour in Japan with Henry and from there, flew right to Belgium to do some shows with Daniel Lanois. We just did a festival show.
JULY
Hello! Well, we finished the European leg of the Rollins Band Rise Above tour and we gotta say that it was just as wild and fun as the leg in the States. Especially, Hamburg, Germany: you guys were wild!
We're now in Australia for a series of shows.
Gotta beat the jet lag... The adrenaline of the shows always picks us up! See all of you Aussies at the shows and let's rock!
JUNE
Thanks for making it to the shows, everybody in the States! We're now
beginning our European leg of the tour. It should be interesting, we're
playing clubs and huge outdoor festivals. Keith Morris won't be on this
leg, though. Bummer. He was a gas to play with.
Well, we hope to see you all at the shows and maybe even chat. Don't be
shy!
M.S.
MAY
Hello, Marcus here!
We're currently in
Orlando, Florida on the Rollins Band Rise Above Tour with Keith Morris.
We're
covering a lot of ground here, folks. We're doing 41 shows (I believe) in 11
countries culminating in a very special show in Tokyo at the end of July. While
we've been out on the road, we've been rocking and rolling in support of the
Rise Above album benefitting the West Memphis 3.
It's been cool speading the
word of Mother Superior as well to the uninitiated.
If we're not coming your
way on this tour, fear not, Mother Superior will be coming your way soon!
